Zirakpur | The Voice of Chandigarh News: Trinity Hospital, Zirakpur in association with Trinity Education & Research Foundation and The Voice of Chandigarh (as media partner) celebrated ‘International Women’s Day 2016 based on the theme ‘Empowering Women through Health Education’. A mega awareness & health check up camp was organized at Trinity Hospital, Zirakpur for women from tri city and neighbouring villages.
Around 350 women from villages around Zirakpur and tri city were given free Gynaecology and Medicine consultation, diet/weight management consultation along with bones and eyes test. Free medicines were also given.
The awareness and health check up camp was inaugurated by Charu Bali, IPS (IGP Haryana), Babita Sharma, wife of NK Sharma, Chief Parliamentary Secretary, Industries and Commerce, Punjab, Mrs Kavita Pahwa (Editor – The Voice of Chandigarh) along with Mr Sanjay Pahwa (The Editor in Chief – The Voice of Chandigarh).
Dr. Kamla Kaushal, Medical Superintendent, Trinity Hospital, gave a detailed account of women’s health problems and counselled the women in the audience about having regular health check up done. Trinity Education & Research Foundation also honoured Ms Charu Bali, Ms Babita Sharma and Ms Kavita Pahwa for their contribution of value to society.
Ms Charu Bali congratulated Trinity Hospital for the success of the camp. In her address she said that “A woman is a change-agent and she can feed her family, build her business, raise her kids and can inspire sustainable transformation and create a new story for herself, her children and her entire community. Let’s all create our story of life by empowering ourselves, and health is the foremost thing we need to take care.”
Ms Babita Sharma appreciated the initiative and congratulated the team for their efforts. She added that these kinds of activities are must for community to enhance the state of health of women and thus the nation.
Ms Kavita Pahwa urged the women audience to be responsible for their own empowerment. She also added that it is our responsibility to inculcate this sense of empowerment in our daughters and respect for women in our sons. This is the best way to begin with to eliminate disparity in the society.
Dr. Kamla Kaushal, Medical Superintendent, Trinity Hospital stated, “Women need to change their attitude towards their own health. Her own good health should be every woman’s priority. It is the first step towards women empowerment”. She added that we should pledge today to make health our top priority and inculcate the same in our daughters. This is the only way to create healthy family and in turn healthy society.”
Dr Mohinder Kaushal, Director Trinity Hospital in his address shared that,”With the mission to empower women through health awareness, this initiative has been taken by Trinity Education & Research Foundation.” He also added that prevention is always better than cure and through creating awareness about preventive health checkups we can create healthy society.
Mrs Aruna Bhardwaj, Advisor, Trinity Education and Research Foundation shared about the various women empowerment programs run by the foundation. She congratulated all the women for taking out time for their health and celebrating women’s day. She added that,” Lets keep this spirit alive everyday, for the rest of our lives.”
Everyone also participated in the signature campaign for ‘ Save Girl Child’ at the health camp.
